New Album Arrived

December 22nd, 2009

Front cover

My new Album, 8 weeks 2 days, has just arrived! I’m very excited. It looks pretty much the way I wanted it to artwork wise, and I think David did a lovely job producing. If anyone’s interested in a copy let me know! I’ll eventually have them for sale as mp3s and through this website, but for now the’re for sale pretty much directly through me. Drop me an email!

Big thanks to Wayne Jennings, Addison Johnson, Mike Stancombe and David Lazar for their parts in making this. Thanks guys.

Trash Returns!

August 6th, 2009

Trash has returned to OZ! Temporarily, anyway. He’s off again in a couple of days back to the states, but he has bought back some very cool news.

The Streets came in through my window music video is almost complete, and Wasps has apparently been nominated for 5 awards at a film festival. (And I still haven’t seen it!) There’s also a whole range of TRP dolls being made now, that come with their own accessories and all.

Watch out people, there may be another TRP tour happening in Australia around December, If the tour is happening, it will be another epic like the animal rebellion, so there’s going to be alot of work to be done, so anyone interested in prop making, please look out for the work shops. We”ll probably need help.

Well, that’s my news for the day. See you soon!

Zuri cancelled due to illness

July 27th, 2009

Hi folks,

Just a quick note of apology to anyone who had an invitation to the hair show at Zuri who was expecting to see us play. Emma came down with a flu on Friday and has been pretty sick all weekend. She’s limited until it’s certain that it’s not swine flu, but we’re hoping that she has a speedy recovery. Send her all the happy/well vibes you can!

The Latest…..

July 18th, 2009

Hi, I know, it’s been almost 6 months! I’ve moved, changed computers (pc to mac..) and a whole lot of other things have been happening.

Oh, and looking back on posts, a note.

I can’t give blood for a bit due to one of the things that’s happened, but O negative blood type levels are still low at the blood bank. If you are O negative (actually, no matter what type you are) and can give (ie, have no tatoos, no needle habits, no communicable diseases - including colds or flus, no recent operations and not pregnant or breastfeeding) please go down to your local blood bank and donate! It doesn’t cost you anything, and you get free drinks (not alcohol!) and food from the canteen as well. In Brisbane city they also have an arrangement with the closest parking lot, so if you show your parking ticket they give you a voucher to pay for it. I’m not sure what it’s like in other cities.

It’s been a while since there was any TRP action here in Australia. The last was in April, supporting the crazy kids of Mindless Self Indulgence. (Man, those guys have some energy!) Since then Trash has been overseas at Musexpo and remixing and mastering the album (hopefully it’s nearly ready! Anyone heard any more about it yet?)

I’ve been pursuing some avenues of my own in the meantime - recording some more, so I will hopefully have a solo cd of about 8 or 9 songs finished by the end of the year. (There should be some samples of songs already done on the lyrics pages if you want to listen.)

Lately I’ve also been playing with another very talented young singer/songwriter, Emma Joleen. We started out forming a duo for weddings, functions and parties, playing our original songs as well as covers requested for the events. As you can see by the pictures, I get to dress up in a little less makeup!

As a trio with Addison Johnson on Drums/ guitar/ Bass, we’ve started performing around Brisbane as well. (he is sooo versatile and talented. It’s great fun with this pair! We asked Addison what instrument he doesn’t play. He said “Flute. I don’t blow.”)

Our first trio gig was Fete de la Musique, in the beautiful Regent Theatre in Brisbane central. Last Thursday we played as the Emma Joleen Trio at the Redlands Tourism Awards night, and we’re to play on Sunday 26th July at Zuri - a swanky new club in the valley - for a fashion show. It should be a good night… just one problem - it’s invitation only. We’ll have to start getting some more public gigs so those who wish to can come and watch.

Keep an eye on this space!

Blood bank time again….

November 25th, 2008

To anyone who wants to come along, I’m going to be donating blood at the Brisbane CBD station, (Edward st just past the Palace backpackers) at 1:15pm (or there-abouts) tomorrow. Come along if you’re healthy, and want to give something that hey! sometime you might get back….

I know the’re always low on O negative because there’s only about 9% of the population of Australia who are that type, but as the universal donor, it can be given to everyone and therefore is the first used in casualty until they find out the person’s blood type. Not everyone of that 9% can give either. Some are too old, too young, too sick, pregnant or breastfeeding, have tattoos (They don’t like taking your blood if you’ve had a tatt within a certain number of years), use needles, travelled to Britain during the BSE years, etc. So really, probably only about half of that 9% is able to give blood (if that.)

Wee… don’t I feel special… and, er a little endangered.

At least 3 other people in my family have O-, but  I think I’m the only one who can currently give it since my father had his heart op. My little brother may be needing some next year. So what happens if I or one of these people I love have an accident/serious illness and the’re critically low on our blood type?

If you’re like me and happen to be able to give to anyone, but can only receive back from a fraction of 9% of the population, makes sense to be sure they have some in stock just in case, wouldn’t you think? Yet I know very few who do. If you’re another 0- who can, I’d love to meet you.

See you at the bank.

Cheers

Ellen
